7 Tips for your Creative Journey

There is no map for a creative career — but there are better questions

A creative journey isn't a straight line. It's a series of decisions made without enough information, usually while feeling like everyone else has it more figured out than you do. The good news: that feeling is universal, and there are a few principles that genuinely help.

The principles that actually compound

The work you make when no one is watching is the work that teaches you who you are. Everything else is performance.

Make more than you share, finish more than you start, and revisit old work often enough to notice how far you've come. Comparison is the default setting — the practice is learning when to use it as fuel and when to put it down entirely.

Build a body of work, not a highlight reel. The people whose careers you admire almost always got there through volume and consistency, not single breakthrough moments. Start where you are, use what you have, and let the work teach you what to make next.
